Life Support Systems enable a permanent human presence in environment otherwise uninhabitable. Within the V-HAB project at the Chair of Astronautics at TUM, I was given the opportunity to improve an existing platform to grow salad in space.
High humidity, unstable temperatures and the need for durability called for improvements to the current electronic design. A prototype implemented using breadboards was improved upon. Using Fritzing and DipTrace, the conceptional design was optimized.
Once the board had been developed, the prototype was assembled and successfully tested. A case was designed using CATIA V5 and 3D printed to provide the necessary protection.
